About Me
“I am an Australian-born visual artist currently based in Adelaide, South Australia.
“Originally from Sydney, I have always lived close to the coastline and its many beautiful beaches, where I feel most at home soaking up the sun with family and friends or a lazy surf.
“My original paintings and giclée prints are inspired by my love of Bondi – the beach and the suburb, where I lived for many years – as well as the mid-century mecca of Palm Springs in the US.
“I paint with acrylics in a semi-impasto style using thick brushes and sometimes a palette knife for impasto.
“My aim as a painter is to make the complicated simple. I always aim to create a visually appealing picture with a palpable sense of space and atmosphere – the sort of idyllic architectural landscape or interior, with or without figures, you’d quite like to walk into.
“My background in art direction, graphic design and fashion has taught me to keep the shapes and shadows simple and the edges distinct, while embracing the materiality of paint with thick, wet-on-wet brushwork. After all, painting is analogue and not digital!
“I am inspired by many artists, among them the painters Edward Hopper, Jeffrey Smart, David Hockney and Jessica Brilli, and photographers such as Slim Aarons and George Byrne.”
